Who Am I?

I'm a web and application developer, husband, musician, and hockey player living in De Pere, WI. Jonkinney.com has been on the web since 2004 when I wrote my first php website during my down time while working at CunaMutual on their internal and external tech support team. The re-launch of jonkinney.com in early April of 2009 marks the first major revision since the initial development. I've come a long way since first dabbling in PHP many years ago, but never managed to update my own site... that is, until now! This site is built using RadiantCMS. Senior Engineer - Intridea

Since starting my professional web development career in June of 2006, I have launched over seven major applications utilizing the Ruby on Rails framework. I'm currently working as a Senior Engineer at Intridea, a Washington D.C. based Ruby on Rails consulting firm. The entire staff at Intridea is distributed and I get to work from the comfort of my home office! Though my primary focus is Ruby, I continue to dabble in PHP, usually by providing support or maintenance for existing client applications, and I also have done major work with ASP.NET 2.0 using C# and VB. In addition, I have exceptional CSS/HTML/JavaScript skills, and can turn a Photoshop design into standards compliant and cross browser compatible HTML and CSS in almost no time.

Other Interests

My wife and best friend is an elementary school music teacher in the Pulaski school district. She is excited to be moving up from an 80% position this year to a full time position starting next fall! We recently purchased a home in west De Pere and are finishing the basement this summer as a recording studio and home theatre! When I'm not hacking on some Ruby code till all hours of the night, I somehow manage to find time to record, produce, mix and perform music. I just recently finished mixing and producing an a cappella album for the UW-Eau Claire based 7-member all male group "The Innocent Men". The disc was released on the 14th of April 2009.
