It'll be nice to be surrounded by like-minded developers after struggling to get Ruby and other open source technologies along with agile methodologies adopted in the Microsoft focused enterprise consulting world that I have spent the first 4-5 years of my professional career in. That's not to say that I didn't learn from and enjoy the work that I did at my previous employers, it's just that I finally feel like I don't have to worry about what my next project will be written in and whether or not I have done enough to convince management that Ruby is a viable technology and will be around for the long haul. As someone in the Ruby community once said to me not so long ago, "There are plenty of companies already making the investment in Ruby, why don't you just join one of them?" I suppose my recent move to Intridea is my answer to that question :-)
